Job Summary

The EMR Trainer will assist with the development and facilitation of EMR training programs for physicians and clerical, clinical and administrative staff. The EMR Trainer will utilize Computer Based Training, (CBT), train-the-trainer techniques, classroom outlines and provide direct support to ensure that targeted staff are able to effectively use the EMR application.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, updates, and enhances EMR training documentation including: Manuals, outlines, course curriculum, training scripts, course objectives, handouts, tests, laboratory exercises and post training support materials.
  • Designs and facilitates EMR training through a variety methods, including: Individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, seminars, meetings, computer/web-based training, workshops and train-the-trainer sessions.
  • Administers oral and/or written EMR proficiency/competency tests and training exercises. Ensures trainees have a clear understanding of course objectives and meet those objectives.
  • Develops and maintains computer-based training programs for non-lecture training delivery.
  • Maintains training class registrations, confirmations, proficiency scores and survey responses. Develops and maintains training schedules, secures training tools and facilities and coordinates class schedules based on needs of departments.
  • Provides on-site EMR training at medical offices throughout Tucson, as needed.
  • Reviews course evaluations with management staff and adjusts training schedule, content and facilitation based on course evaluation feedback.
  • Supports development, testing and maintenance of the EMR for both live and training environments.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with EMR application/division/project staff regarding EMR updates and upgrades.
  • Researches and requests training classes to learn new skills as needed. Attends meetings and seminars to obtain information improvements to technical training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare information technology, healthcare administration or other closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years as an EMR superuser OR two years experience in training, information technology, and/or healthcare operations.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Captivate, WebEx and other multimedia training resources.
  • Strong project management skills and knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve program goals for EMR training design and implementation.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people in group and one-on-one settings.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in job duties and the workplace.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the greater Tucson area, as needed.
  • This position requires driving, MUST have reliable transportation.
