Job Description

Under the general supervision and direction of the THMP Director. This position will work closely with the Tribal Administrator, Assistant Tribal Administrator & LAUNCH Advisory Board. This position is housed within the THMP Department. This position will be responsible for providing direct outreach to the pilot community leaders and advocates. The Community Coordinator will provide cultural expertise to the program and will be trained to provide Positive Indian Parenting classes. Note; Project LAUNCH is a five (5) year grant.    

Essential Duties and Responsiblities:

  • Work closely with and engage various tribal leaders and elders to organize, develop and lead cultural community activities.
  • Perform community-based outreach by attending community meetings and events, conferences and one-on-one meetings to educate the public about Project LAUNCH and its programs.
  • Plan and conduct various presentations and trainings for the community related to Project LAUNCH activities.
  • Assist and promote workforce development and public education campaigns.
  • Work closely with all Project LAUNCH staff to coordinate and integrate services.
  • Assist in developing cultural adaptations/infusion into program and services.
  • Work to infuse Cocopah culture into and provides Positive Indian Parenting Classes.
  • Work closely with the Cocopah Cultural Department, engage various tribal leaders and elders in infrastructure development, and assist in development and coordination of community strengthening activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skill / Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of social services system, tribal governmental and geography of Cocopah Tribe.
  • Must be a Cocopah Tribal Member.
  • Ability to travel for trainings in Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) and for outreach responsibilities.
  • Ability to outreach, host, and engage parents in PIP.
  • Ability to work as a team player with LAUNCH staff, families, and various early care and education programs.
  • Ability to interact effectively with partners and stakeholders.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with partner agencies and families.
  • Ability to use standard business application software programs (Microsoft Office, Excel and Access).

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate’s degree in social work, psychology, or any other human services. Experience may substitute for degree in certain situations.
  • Must have reliable transportation and availability to travel for training and business related purposes.
  • Must possess a current valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Testing may be required.
  • Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment process and background investigation.
