PURPOSE OF POSITION: Act as general reception for physical therapy clinic.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Contact patients per phone to remind them of appointments or other pertinent notices. Answer phones and patient inquiries throughout the shift.
Provide assistance to PT Office Coordinator in obtaining patient records prior to treatments and scheduling appointments, as needed.
Provide Physical Therapy Aide duties as trained and authorized by the therapist. Aide duties include but may not be limited to: preparing treatment rooms for patient per treatment protocols. Assist patients into PT apparel or apertures. Apply heat packs or paraffin dips. Assist patient into whirlpool, onto equipment, tracking time/distance, measure mobility. Perform prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques. Demonstrate proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
Clean treatment rooms and equipment between patients.
Maintain confidentiality of patients though effective records management and practices.
Maintain cooperative working relationship with hospital staff, patients, other organizations, and the public to provide quality customer service in a courteous manner.
Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner.
Follow all safety rules and procedures for work areas.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of general office practices, computer/data entry procedures, operation of office equipment, use of telephone systems, arithmetic, spelling, English and grammar. General knowledge of confidentiality concepts and requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with public, insurance companies, and staff both orally and in writing. Equivalent to a high school education and six (6) months related experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Certification (CPR), or able to attain certification within 6 months of hire.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in a hospital, clinic or physical therapy department.
