Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Review prospective admissions against approved admission criteria, policies and procedures.

Initiate contact to gather required clinical and demographic data from patient and other sources.

Respond promptly to inquiry calls.

Schedule assessments.

Conduct pre-admission assessments.

Assist prospective patients and significant others in seeking treatment.

Refer inquiries to other agencies and community resources when not appropriate for facility assistance or admission.

Coordinate with referral sources.

Coordinate transportation arrangements for patients.

Responsible for maintaining all the documentation involved with the admissions process.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent required with college degree preferred. One-year experience in healthcare admissions, preferably in the mental health or substance abuse field.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC); Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDC) or Certified Employee Assistance Program (CEAP) certification preferred.

First Aid, CPR, de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

ADDITIONAL REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Under the supervision of Admissions Director, provides direct patient care to patients upon admission as assigned. Maintains a safe and efficient working and treatment environment per facility policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with the treatment team to ensure safety, quality care is provided to all patients. Communicates with community agencies and community members regarding admission process and criteria.

Education/Experience/Skills Requirement: An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted as appropriate that will result in the knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications:  Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
