Lab Tech Assistant
Yuma Regional Medical Center - Hospital

Works under the direct supervision of medical technologists and/or supervisory personnel. Responsible for the proper collection and processing of patient specimens. Adheres to standards of practice and universal precautions. Performs associated clerical duties to include moderate computer (PC, LIS) operations, telephone communications, and within scope technical work. Based on training and experience, Technical Assistants are expected to perform at a higher level of technical support and demonstrate critical thinking and professional communication.
Lab/Specimen Collection
Our full-service medical laboratory serves inpatients, outpatients and off-site laboratory referrals of all ages (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric)adding-up to 2.5 million tests annually (with 40% Outreach). State-of-the-art testing is performed in such disciplines as pathology, blood bank, hematology/coagulation, serology, chemistry and microbiology. Service Support
Education Required:
High school or equivalent

Education Preferred:
Arizona Western College Phlebotomy Class, Certified Office Laboratory Assistant (AMT) or equivalent
Experience Required:
6 months customer service OR Bachelors degree; Valid/Current Drivers License which meets requirements of YRMC fleet safety program; Pass Dangerous Goods Transportation Assessment within 14 days of hire (By law, any person who causes dangerous goods to be transported by a public carrier must follow specific regulations and must have proof of training).

Experience Preferred:
Phlebotomy. 2 years call center, customer service, research information, and maintain filing systems.
